JOHN SOKICH

John Sokich is currently a Senior Meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS) Strategic Planning and Policy Office. He leads the NWS Strategic Planning effort and works on agency wide policy issues. Before joining the Strategic Planning and Policy Office, Mr. Sokich was the NWS Operations and Transition Manager as the NWS restructured its field offices and implemented new technologies as part of its $4.5 billion modernization.

Previously, Mr. Sokich worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), parent of the NWS, as Congressional Liaison for NWS affairs and was an advisor to the NOAA Deputy Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere, advising senior NOAA management on NWS issues. He began his career with the NWS in 1980 as an operational forecaster.
